We are fundraising to help patients like Stephanie!

I'd like to share a story about one of our patients at Chesapeake Care Clinic. Her name is Stephanie, and she's a student at Virginia Wesleyan College. Stephanie has big hopes and dreams, but she also has a life-threatening disease and budget that she can't stretch far enough to include health insurance.

Stephanie was in class one day when her condition – Wegener's Granulomatosis – began to cause problems. Her nose and throat became inflamed and she barely could breathe. She raced to an ENT who prescribed steroids, but the doctor feared Stephanie wouldn't make it through the night.

Fortunately, the medicine worked, however Stephanie needed long-term care. Her doctor knew she couldn't afford the steep medical bills that would come with such care, so he recommended that the 27-year-old visit Chesapeake Care Clinic.

For 25 years, caring individuals and businesses have donated to the non-profit Chesapeake Care Clinic to fund its mission to provide quality medical and dental care to people who are uninsured or under-insured. Doctors, nurses, dentists, and others- volunteer their services to make sure that every dollar YOU give to Chesapeake Care Clinic delivers $7.63 worth of medical and dental care in Chesapeake and Hampton Roads.

Since Stephanie made that first appointment in October 2016, she has seen a variety of specialists including a pulmonologist, a nephrologist, and she sees a primary care physician, all becasue you helped with a donation of any amount today. Because someone like you decided to help one person.

"I'm doing so much better now," Stephanie said recently. "I freaked out that one day when the ENT told me I was on the verge of death. Now, it's like a complete 180."

"Chesapeake Care has been a lifesaver to me. I don't know if my friends knew about it before, but I know they're now informed that this place exists, and thank goodness for that."
